Liberty Walk Shows A Stunning Widebody Ferrari F40

The infamous Japanese tuner, Liberty Walk, adds a widebody kit to the rare Ferrari F40 to make the beast even more arresting.

Ferrari supercars are considered to be something akin to holy relics. Even the company views them that way and generally forbids owners to install outrageous upgrades and makes them sign an agreement before buying the supercar. So, it is fair enough to say that modified Ferraris are rare. That’s especially true with models like the F40, arguably the best Ferrari ever made.

Nonetheless, Liberty Walk, the tuner famous for its excessive widebody designs, decided to take a risk and create perhaps the most extreme-looking F40 ever. Ferrari certainly won’t like the creation, but that crazy over-styled anime look does look very cool.

Now, Liberty Walk still hasn’t built an F40 with its widebody kit — the hypercar still only exists as a 3D model. The tuner released images and a video showcasing the design but promised a real show car for the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon in January.

To avoid irritating Ferrari, Liberty Walk has left the original body untouched — the widebody kit is only attached on top of the F40. The modified car features a new front cowl, cowl duct, splitter side skirts, and diffuser, but it also deletes the pop-up headlights. However, the main attraction is the massive rear wing made of carbon fiber. The overall setup makes the F40 look even sharper and cooler.

One questionable change that Liberty Walk has made is slamming the F40 almost to the ground. While it adds to the car’s looks, the worrying lack of ground clearance makes it clear that the supercar won’t be usable as a daily driver.

Still, Liberty Walk didn’t touch the powertrain — the remodeled F40 hosts the factory 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 471 hp and 426 lb-ft. Thus, performance should be largely the same, though the 201-mph top speed might suffer due to the added drag from the widebody design.

While Liberty Walk has contributed its fair share of great remodeled vehicles, this one might take the cake.
