The Ford Bronco DR is not your average off-roader. Built for serious desert racing, this beast is a no-compromise machine designed to conquer dunes, rocks, and anything else in its way. Unlike the standard Bronco, the DR is not street-legal, meaning it’s meant purely for high-speed off-road action. Ford only made 50 of these ultra-capable off-roaders, each with a starting price of $295,000. That’s a huge jump from the regular Bronco, but this isn’t just any SUV. The Bronco DR heading to Mecum’s auction on March 22 is finished in matte blue, making it stand out from previous DRs that have been sold. It also comes with the $38,000 Baja package, which includes:

- A roof-mounted LED light bar to light up the desert at night
- A new grille bar and rock lights

Inside, this Bronco DR is built for racing. There are no fancy infotainment screens or leather seats—instead, it comes with a full roll cage, Recaro racing seats with harnesses, and a MoTeC digital display replacing the standard gauge cluster. The steering wheel is an Alcantara-wrapped Sparco unit, and there’s a two-way radio system and GPS navigation to help drivers tackle off-road routes with precision. Safety is also a priority, with a racing fuel cell and fire suppression system installed.
This isn’t the first Bronco DR to hit an auction, but it’s definitely one of the most striking. In recent months, we’ve seen DRs pop up in NATO Olive Green, classic Stroppe Bronco livery, and even Ford’s Mystichrome color-shifting paint. However, with just 50 of these ever built, each one is an instant collector’s item.
