Hennessey VelociRaptoR Takes Raptor R’s V8 To 1,000 HP

If Raptor R’s 700 hp isn’t enough for you, Texas-based tuner Hennessey has you covered with the ultimate version, “VelociRaptoR,” that packs a bunch of changes, including a larger supercharger.

Ford recently launched the most potent F-150 ever — the Raptor R. With a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 (sourced from the Shelby GT500) and a special off-road suspension, it’s a real treat to enthusiasts with deep enough pockets, as it starts from $107,400. However, Hennessey, the tuning house that gives us the maddest tuned trucks, thought the Raptor R wasn’t crazy enough and created its own version — the VelociRaptoR.

Hennessey has made significant changes to the truck to push the original truck’s 700 hp to almost 1,000 hp. Moreover, Hennessey expects a torque output of 850 lb-ft, a figure considerably higher than the original Raptor R’s 640 lb-ft. Overall, Hennessey looks for a 40% power increase and 30% torque increase — not bad considering how powerful the base truck is.

The biggest upgrade to come to those numbers is a larger 3.8-liter supercharger compared to the original 2.7-liter unit. The company has also added a few other updates, like upgraded fuel lines, a new supercharger belt, and a high-flow intake system.

“The VelociRaptoR 1000 raises the performance bar significantly in terms of sheer power,” says John Hennessey, CEO and founder of Hennessey. John didn’t mention if the fuel consumption takes a hit, but it probably can’t do much worse than the original’s 10 mpg.

Hennessey has also upgraded the exterior of the VelociRaptoR so that it better corresponds to the power inside. Every version has a unique front and rear bumper set, and there’s a new LED light bar at the front for better visibility. The upgraded VelociRaptoR also gets new custom 20-inch rims, though the 37-inch off-road tires stay. Hennessey also put “VelociRaptoR 1000” and “R1000” stickers with cool graphics on the side.

Hennessey still hasn’t announced pricing, but don’t expect anything less than five figures. You can place your VelociRaptoR 1000 order through an authorized Ford dealer or Hennessey directly. The tuning house will deliver the first units in 2023.
