Tropical Cabines Reimagines Ford F-250 Into Ugly Super-Duty Sedans

Tropical Cabines is known for reworking pickup trucks, and the F-250 sedan conversion has been its trademark product since 2001.

Over the years, many have tried their hands at designing utility vehicles built as sedans to get the best of both worlds. However, these bizarre design ideas have given birth to some of the most awfully designed vehicles in history.

Despite all the criticism, some aftermarket tuning firms like Tropical Cabines have been determined to build these monstrous sedans nonetheless. The Brazilian company is well known for converting SUVs and trucks into sedans called ‘Tropiclassics.’

One of the company’s most noteworthy creations was a Ford F-250 Sedan, and it has been on the market since 2001. In order to build them, Tropical Cabines cut the F-250 down to the chassis and replaces the original body panels with new in-house components.

The front end is entirely custom-made, while the rear end is fitted with Ford Focus parts, including the trunk and taillights. Worth mentioning the interior remains mostly stock with a few aftertouches.

With so many bizarre and unique components mixed together, it’s no surprise to learn that the engine department also followed the same pattern. The first generation of these Super Duty vehicles was offered with two turbo-diesel engine options, unique to Brazil — an MWM (Navistar) 4.2-liter inline-six and a 3.9-liter Cummins B-series, both coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission.

In addition to the Ford F-250, Tropical Cabines also worked on transforming many other super duty trucks into sedans, including the Chevrolet Silverado and S10 and, most recently, Dodge Ram trucks too. By 2015, the Brazilian company decided to cut back the Tropiclassics to a single model to save itself from bankruptcy.

Nowadays, Tropical Cabines mainly focuses on selling elongated medium-duty Ford trucks in the Middle Eastern market.

Still, as ugly as Tropiclassics are, we bet they would be quite a head-turner in the US. But who would want to do this to an F-250? And good luck with finding replacement parts!
