Shelby Super Snake Speedster is one of the commemorative cars celebrating what would have been Carroll Shelby’s 98th birthday.
Shelby American just launched a new series of limited-edition Mustangs, including a roofless Super Snake Speedster, marking the 98th birth-anniversary of its founder, Carroll Shelby. According to the manufacturer, it would be building 98 units of the Shelby GT500SE, Shelby GT, and Shelby Super Snake, receiving minor tweaks over the already existing models. In addition to that, Shelby introduced the all-new Shelby Super Snake Speedster, an exclusive two-seat convertible Mustang, also available in just 98 copies.
The special edition Speedster will be powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged Coyote V8 generating 825 hp and featuring upgraded auto/manual transmissions.
The special edition Shelby Super Snake Speedster features a hard-top tonneau system with dual buttresses covering the rear seat space. Shelby American provided the Speedster with an even more aggressive look, adding extra vents, flared fenders, a raised hood, and canards. The limited-edition model also features specific badging and unique striping along with “Speedster Edition” printed on the door sill plates and floor mats.
Shelby American claims that the Speedster can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and ensures crisp handling, thanks to Shelby springs and performance half shafts. To stop those beasts, the automaker also added 4-piston rear and 6-piston front calipers.
On the other hand, the 2021 Shelby GT would be powered by a 480 hp V8 and features a Ford suspension system, functional air vents, 20-inch wheels with performance tires, a Borla cat-back exhaust, and a custom interior. Customers would also be allowed to choose between manual or automatic transmission, as well as convertible or fastback.
The package that turns the Super Snake Mustang into a two-seat convertible costs $4,995. However, if you do not provide your own Mustang, you will have to shell out $138,780 for the entry-level trim.
