Jaguar E-Type 60 Collection Celebrates 60 Illustrious Years

Jaguar unveiled the E-Type 60 Collection, recreations of one of the most popular sports cars to come out of the United Kingdom.

Since its introduction in 1961, Jaguar’s E-Type is considered one of the most beautiful cars to have ever touched the Earth. Even the great carmaker and artist Enzo Ferrari admired its beauty.

Interestingly, Jaguar initially wanted to bring back the iconic E-Type as an electric vehicle but soon axed the plan. Although we will not see an electric variant, the company will celebrate the model’s 60th anniversary with restored limited-edition E-Types.

Jaguar is making six pairs of the E-Type 60 collection, each pair including a coupe and a convertible. It’s worth mentioning here that customers can only buy it in pairs.

Jaguar first revealed the E-Type on March 15, 1961, at the Geneva Motor Show, as models under the tag “9600HP” and “77RW”. Sixty years later, on the same date, the brand showcased the finished restored classic cars.

Each car will come with the old XK’s 3.8L straight-six, producing 265 HP, paired exclusively to a close-ratio five-speed manual gearbox. Moreover, design director Julian Thompson incorporated bespoke items such as a hood badge, fuel cap, and a chassis plate, along with a 24-karat gold horn button and a light beech-rimmed steering wheel. Also featured inside the cabin is artist King Nerd’s center console piece inspired by Jaguar test driver Norman Dewis and publicist Bob Perry, both driving the cars to the launch venue sixty years ago.

To match the times, Jaguar has included the Classic’s infotainment system with navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. Other modernized equipment consists of a stainless-steel exhaust system, electronic ignition, and an upgraded radiator. Coming in Gunmetal Gray and British Racing Green, the E-Type 60 collection looks classic and staggeringly beautiful.

Unfortunately, Jaguar Classic hasn’t disclosed the price of the E-Type 60 Collection sports cars yet. However, classic E-Type recreations have gone for nearly $400,000, and we expect these originals to cost significantly more.
