The Italian carmaker recently launched the New Fiat 500, available with all-electric powertrains and full Alexa integration.
Amazon’s Alexa is an AI-powered virtual assistant AI technology that’s perhaps the most popular on the market. Given its outstanding abilities, Alexa was the obvious choice for in-car infotainment systems.
That being said, the 500 is not a pioneer in Alexa integration at all. In the past few years, many models were equipped with built-in Alexa support. The first with the feature was Lamborghini’s Huracan Evo, while most major brands quickly followed suit.
Fiat is the latest carmaker to add Alexa support to its vehicles, starting with the all-new 500. Interestingly, the Italian manufacturer baked the assistant directly into the MyFiat Connected Car Skill and will offer it as a part of FCA’s UConnect Services.
Fiat 500 drivers can now ask Alexa to play their favorite music, listen to recent news, tell the weather forecast, and many more with just a voice command. All you need to do is say “Hey Fiat” to activate Alexa and then ask a question. And, even better, the feature will be made available in all countries with Alexa support.
The all-new Fiat 500 is now available as an all-electric vehicle. The base variant features a 24-kWh battery and a 93 hp electric motor, achieving a top speed of 84 mph (135 km/h). Meanwhile, the more powerful variant features a 42-kWh battery and a 118 hp electric motor. As a result, it reaches 93 mph (150 km/h).
Fiat’s History with America
Fiat has always had a roller-coaster ride on the North-American market. The company stopped its operation in 1983 when sales figures declined to a mere 14,000 units annually. In 2009, Fiat returned to North America after buying a 20% stake in the US automaker Chrysler.
Nonetheless, Fiat still couldn’t succeed in North America, selling a mere 3,569 units in 2020.
It will be interesting to see if the New Fiat 500 with Alexa integration manages to change things.
We doubt that…
