Look at Lucid Air’s Stunning Retractable Infotainment Touchscreen

Lucid Motors showcased its Lucid User Experience, perfectly blending with its intuitive infotainment touchscreen displays.

The Lucid UX control interface is built around two primary touch screens: the Glass Cockpit and the Pilot Panel, both curved towards the driver. The 34″ Glass Cockpit comes with 5K resolution and is strategically located behind the steering wheel, while the Pilot Panel is positioned below the center console. Unfortunately, Lucid did not specify its size, but judging from the images, it seems pretty large.

There are three primary sections to the Glass Cockpit. On the left are the vehicle’s controls, including the lighting system, windshield wiper settings, and basic operations like defrosting. The specialized instrumentation is located in the middle, including a speedometer, information on the remaining battery capacity, the range, and an extensive list of data. Finally, everything else, like the navigation, entertainment, and connectivity functions, is found on the right side.

On the other hand, the Pilot Panel can regulate the vehicle’s climate control system and the seat layout, including cooling and heating. One of the most distinguishing features is the seamless connection between the Glass Cockpit and the Pilot Panel, allowing the driver to review specific information more clearly by sliding the data from one to the other. Interestingly, users can even collapse the display when not in use and gain access to a storage compartment hidden behind it.

Lucid Motors also claims that over-the-air updates will allow them to upgrade the Lucid UX system and develop it further over time. As a result, not only would the user interface be upgraded, but the autonomous driving system would also receive additional functions and extensions in the future.

It is worth mentioning Lucid retained some physical controls, placing them between the two infotainment displays. These controls can adjust the temperature, climate flow, and all other air conditioning settings, as well as operate power windows. In addition, the whole system is unified so that any changes made to a parameter via physical controls are automatically reflected in the information displayed on the screen.

Moreover, when Lucid Air’s DreamDrive autonomous driving technology is activated, the Glass Cockpit shows surrounding cars and obstacles on the right side of the screen, thanks to data from 32 onboard sensors and the first high-resolution LiDAR ever mounted in an electric vehicle.

And, that’s not all; the Lucid Air can even take voice commands with the help of Amazon’s Alexa. It also offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options. Users can also listen to their favorite Spotify playlist through a Dolby Atmos surround sound system—what’s not to like?

The Lucid Air EV starts at $77,440 and goes all the way up to $169,000 for the Dream Edition. Production has already been delayed to the second half of the year, and deliveries are expected soon after.
