Hyundai Staria blends practicality, luxury, and comfort in a sci-fi van body.
The Staria is a futuristic van—at least it looks like one—especially at the front. The big chrome grille, the daytime running light bar above, and rectangular headlights on the sides create an otherworldly appearance. The headlights are genuinely the main points of interest here with an eight-piece full LED setup, looking quite modern.
Interestingly, the Staria is even more impressive on the inside. Indeed, it features a humungous cabin that can seat up to 11 occupants, depending on the model you go for. Moreover, the side windows are the biggest in the segment, and Hyundai rightly calls them ‘Panoramic windows.’ Not much information has been provided about the infotainment unit, but one can expect a high-end system with a plethora of high-tech features.
Hyundai plans to release the vehicle in two trims: Staria and Staria Premium. The regular model will be offered in two, seven, nine, or 11-seats configurations. The 2-3 seater will be suitable to be used as a cargo van providing a colossal amount of space to carry goods.
The Premium trim, on the other hand, can accommodate 7- 9 occupants in absolute comfort, thanks to the cockpit-style captain seats. Besides, the second-row seats can turn around so that passengers can face each other and interact.
The Hyundai Staria will be available with two engines globally. For Europe, Hyundai reserved a 2.2-liter diesel engine with a six-speed manual or an optional eight-speed automatic. Other countries will get a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine. Sadly, there is still no word on a US release or an electric powertrain yet.
Being a multi-utility vehicle, Staria will also be launched in other versions. Notably, Hyundai will release an ambulance, a camping vehicle, and an extra-long limousine version later down the production line.
