Nissan Unveils a Special Edition GT-R Nismo with 600 HP

The special-edition GT-R Nismo packs a VR38DETT 3.8-liter turbo V6 with 600 hp, adding some red accents and stealth grey paint for a more aggressive appearance.

Following the moody appearance and performance upgrades of the Patrol SUV late last month, Nissan’s motorsport and performance division, Nismo, has worked its magic again on its all-time performance flagship GT-R. Nismo took Nissan’s most popular track machine’s already aggressive styling and performance to the next level with this iteration.

The new limited-edition GT-R Nismo indeed says “look at me” with its aggressive design, muscular exterior components, and a striking paint scheme. The exterior adorns the Nismo-exclusive Stealth Grey paint, which the company says is inspired by “track tarmacs GT-Rs have set records and competed on.”

Complementing the car’s striking appearance is the edition-exclusive carbon-fiber hood coated in a clear gloss finish to expose the eye-catchy weave pattern in all its charm. It rides on large 20-inch aluminum forged alloy wheels by RAYS. Moreover, there are red accents on the air dams, wheel arches, side mirrors, rear bumper, and lower body bits.

The red trim treatment carries over to the seats and other soft-touch surfaces. Besides, this limited-edition GT-R will be the first to feature Nissan’s new logo on the rear trunk lid and wheel center caps.

Mechanically, the GT-R Nismo retains the same big Brembo calipers and carbon-ceramic rotors, 410 mm and 390 mm fore and aft, from the previous model.

Powering the GT-R Nismo is the same VR38DETT 3.8-liter turbocharged V6 engine, tuned to 600 hp and 652 Nm (481 lb-ft.) of torque. This engine runs all four wheels through a six-speed DCT automatic gearbox. Its exhilarating performance is further improved using weight-balanced components such as the piston rings, crankshaft, crank pulley, connecting rods, flywheel, and valve springs, which delivers “snappier revs and quicker turbo spooling.”

Each GT-R Nismo’s powertrain is hand-assembled by master technicians from Nissan’s Takumi team, whose unique certification plate will also be present on the engine in an exclusive color.

Nissan has not stated exactly how many of these limited-edition GT-Rs will be made. Its price is also a secret for now, but the company has promised to reveal it later this year.
