The Hellephant 7.0-liter V8 crate engine comes from Mopar, and packs a supercharger for a maximum output of 1,000 HP.
Hennessey is known for its significant yet outlandish tuner cars that perform much better than the stock versions. The company has been working with lots of vehicles, and its latest project involves a 1000 HP Hellephant variant for the Ram TRX and the Durango SRT. The company already had plans to release a 1,000 HP Hennessey Mammoth, the modified version of the Ram TRX, but has now come out with an alternate tuner kit to increase the vehicle’s potential.
In a video clip released on YouTube, Hennessey founder, John Hennessey, talks about the supercharged Hellephant V8 crate engine produced by Mopar, a parts group owned by Stellantis.
The video shows the production of the Hennessey Mammoth, followed by the Durango SRT alongside the Hellephant V8 crate engine. Hence, it clearly hints at a double Hellephant lineup featuring the Mammoth and the Durango SRT. The crate engine has a displacement of 7.0 liters, which is equal to 426 cubic meters, a tribute to the 426 Hemi V8 engines used in muscle cars in the classic era.
However, the company has only listed the unit available for pre-1976 vehicles. Hennessey must have some ideas to make it legal in terms of emission standards, though. What’s more important is that the V8 packs a punch, and installing it in two of the most powerful off-road trucks won’t go unnoticed.
As the EV era gets underway, there is no guarantee that ICE engines will be the norm for the future. But the Hellephant V8 crate engine has enthusiasts all over the world itching to get their hands on one. The Ram TRX should be the first to receive the Hellephant V8 engine, with the Durango SRT not far behind.
