The A-Class is the smallest, entry-level series in Mercedes’s current lineup and was recently spiced up with the launch of the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S variant. The hatchback became a powerful car capable of recording phenomenal track times. Now, since no power is ever enough power, Brabus introduced a new performance upgrade, modifying the A 45 S into an even more powerful machine called B45.
The A 45 S has the world’s most powerful mass-produced four-cylinder engine onboard, but Brabus managed to extract even more juice from it. Once fitted with the Brabus performance kit, the engine now produces 450 HP, a significant bump over the stock 421 HP. The torque output is also only improved, going from 369 lb-ft to 409 lb-ft. And even though the A 45 S was already quick, going from 0 to 60mph in only 3.9 seconds, Brabus claims the B45 to do the same in a mere 3.7 seconds.
The Brabus B45’s bump in specs comes thanks to the fine-tuning and reworked mapping of the A 45 S’ electronic engine management system. Brabus’ performance upgrade also includes a PowerXtra CPC auxiliary control unit and a BoostXtra adapter.
The suspension system has been tweaked with adjustable shocks lowering the ride height by 30mm, for a lower gravity center and better handling. Surprisingly, the A 45 S comes with an electronic speed limiter capping the top speed at 168mph, and Brabus let that be.
The B45 includes bespoke Brabus Monoblock 20-inch wheels clad in high-performance Continental tires. Some optional inclusions to the package are refined interior leather upholstery, aluminum pedals, and new floor mats.
