Tesla just unveiled the redesigned 2021 Model S with better range and top-of-the-line performance.
Tesla’s Model S was first launched in 2012, and since then, it’s the first time the sedan receives a significant upgrade. The new Model S has been announced with major changes to the cabin and powertrain configurations.
Performance-wise, the all-electric engine can now produce 1020 horsepower and bridge the 0-60 mph gap in just 1.99 seconds, making it, as Tesla claims, the “fastest accelerating car in the world.” Indeed, it will also perform exceptionally well in quarter-mile races, reaching the line in only 9.23 seconds and at a top speed of 155 mph!
Interestingly, tech features are just as fascinating as the performance specs. For instance, inside the 2021 Tesla Model S sits a 22-speaker audio system with active noise cancellation and a tri-zone temperature control providing ventilated front seats and HEPA filtration as standard. Also, the massive center display screen has a 2200×1300 resolution, providing seamless accessibility and visuals.
Storage space is another domain wherein the new Model S scores. Equipped with both front and rear boot space, the car also features fold-flat seats to increase the available cargo space. Official images even show a bicycle being carried in the vehicle with the seats folded. The exterior will also feature subtle changes, but the major takeaway will be the new glass roof.
Tesla will offer three major trim levels for the updated 2021 Model S. The first one is the dual-motor “Long-Range” variant with a 420-mile range priced at $79,990. Next up is the “Plaid” variant with a more powerful powertrain providing 390-mile range with the aforementioned 1.99 second acceleration standard. This one will cost you $119,000. For customers who want a longer range complemented by an outrageously powerful motor Tesla will offer a “Plaid+” variant, sold for $139,000 with a 520-mile range.
