BMW Teases the 2023 M2 as a Playtime Machine

BMW is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its M division with the new 2023 M2 Coupe, focused on delivering a fun ride.

The 35 seconds teaser BMW released on social media gives us a very small glimpse of the upcoming 2023 BMW M2. Like any other teaser, you can only see attractive people and the typical BMW M blue/red lights color grade and a few dark frames of M2 drifting here and there.

BMW already released the camouflaged photos of the M2 prototype on Instagram. According to those images, the 2023 M2 comes with more aggressive rectangular twin grilles, enlarged fenders, and a spoiler fitted on the trunk lid. The changes also include thicker side skirts that give it a more purposeful look than the M240i.

A retuned chassis with stronger suspension will also contribute to improved driving characteristics. The 2023 M2 will have larger brakes that will allow it to stop faster, as well as unique wheel designs. It will also be adorned with the traditional ‘M’ trademarks both inside and out.

The good news is that the M2 will have the latest BMW iDrive 8 infotainment software with a large curved screen, integrating the instrument panel and infotainment screen. It will come with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 14.9-inch touchscreen.

However, the most important news for BMW enthusiasts is that the 2023 M2 will have the S58 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six from the M3 and M4 Competition. This will break the performance record of the current BMW M2 Competition with 405 hp, probably pushing north of 450 hp. It should be rear-wheel-drive with an optional manual gearbox.

Last month, BMW revealed that the M2 would be produced in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. However, there is still no word when it will be unveiled, but it should happen quite soon. Naturally, we’ll cover every 2023 M2, so make sure to follow us closely!
