And it sure looks good – but $5,000 good?
For the longest time, American muscle cars have always been about brute force, with the sole exception of the Corvette, which has always been a bit more sophisticated. That’s why aftermarket companies are often offering various kits to further improve the aerodynamics and overall performance of the original American sports car. One such company is Texas-based LG Motorsports, which has just developed a new rear wing for the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette C8.

Simply known as the GT2 wing, the rear aerodynamic spoiler was reportedly tested at the Circuit of the Americas and is aimed at providing the C8 with more downforce without adding drag. To ensure a perfect blend of lightness and rigidity, the wing is made out of carbon fiber, while the uprights are aluminum.
LG Motorsports is also planning on including additional aero components, especially a carbon fiber front splitter, that the company promises would provide more downforce than any other aftermarket C8 splitter kit. However, the splitter is still in development and not available for order just yet.
On the other hand, LG Motorsports already offers new headers, a catback exhaust, a complete exhaust package, monoball control arm bushing kits, and driveshafts that could handle up to 1,400 horsepower. The whole LG Motorsports’ performance and aerodynamics kit is reportedly good for shaving off 6 seconds over the stock C8 ‘Vette. Not bad, right?
Everything is really bigger in Texas since the wing almost dwarfs the entire car from the pictures available. Surprisingly though, it still looks natural, reminding us that the Corvette name also bears a rich international motorsport heritage. Adorned in these upgrades, the C8 Corvette can provide European sports car levels of handling and ride dynamics while keeping the trademark roar of an American V8 we love so much.
The LG GT2 WING alone will cost you $3,800 while the mounting kit, spoiler delete, and wicker bill will set you back another $1,150.
