Brabus transformed the AMG SL63 into a carbon-fiber beast that merges supercar power with the practicality of a wagon.
Brabus has outdone itself with the Rocket GTS, a wild shooting brake based on the Mercedes-AMG SL63. This custom creation blends sports car performance with the utility of a wagon, but with a bold, head-turning twist. Built entirely out of carbon fiber, the Rocket GTS not only looks fierce but also packs an impressive amount of power. It’s a one-of-a-kind machine that rivals supercars in performance and exclusivity.
At its core, the Rocket GTS is a reimagined Mercedes SL63 S E Performance, but Brabus transformed it into something entirely new. The sleek, streamlined design features a custom-made carbon fiber body with a shooting brake silhouette—a long roofline that leads to a wide, muscular rear end. Every curve and vent is designed for maximum aerodynamics, allowing the car to achieve impressive stability at high speeds. Brabus used wind-tunnel testing to ensure the design wasn’t just eye-catching but also efficient, with a prominent front spoiler, wider fenders, side skirts, and a substantial rear diffuser. This new bodywork doesn’t just add style; it gives the Rocket GTS the look and function of a high-performance wagon.
Under the hood, Brabus didn’t hold back. The Rocket GTS comes with a heavily modified version of the AMG SL63’s hybrid V8 powertrain. The engine has been upgraded from 4.0 to 4.4 liters, with Brabus tuning the twin-turbo setup to deliver 785 hp. Add the electric motor’s 201 hp, and you’re looking at a total of 986 hp and a stunning 1,195 lb-ft of torque. This power lets the Rocket GTS sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 197 mph. Brabus has hinted that it could go even faster if unrestricted. With these numbers, it’s one of the fastest wagons on the planet.
Brabus also equipped the Rocket GTS with a set of Monoblock P Platinum Edition wheels, 21 inches in the front and 22 inches in the rear, which add to the aggressive stance and help keep everything in check at high speeds. Integrated aeroblades in the wheels aid in brake cooling, while a quad-titanium exhaust system with carbon-coated tips provides a signature Brabus roar. The exhaust is also designed with active valves, allowing the driver to control the noise depending on the environment.
Inside, the Rocket GTS has Brabus’s high-end touches all over. Black Alcantara and leather upholstery, quilted seats, and custom carbon fiber trim make the cabin as unique as the exterior. Blue ambient lighting and white contrast stitching add a bit of character, keeping things classy but in line with the car’s bold personality. The fixed roof and shooting brake design allow for a 2+2 seating layout, making this one of the most practical SL models around. There’s even more space in the rear for luggage, a feature rarely found in such high-performance cars.
Brabus hasn’t said how many of these Rocket GTS models it will make, or how much each one will cost. However, it’s expected to carry a hefty price tag, especially given the amount of custom work and exclusive materials. This is more than just a car; it’s a statement piece that merges luxury, power, and a level of exclusivity that’s hard to beat.
