Subaru announced the pricing for the 2022 Outback with a special emphasis on the Outback Wilderness trim.
The 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness now starts at $38,120, including shipping and handling fees. It’s powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine good for 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft and mated with a continuous variable transmission. Being a power-packed machine ready to tackle a quick adventure off the beaten path, the price is somewhat lower than what we’ve expected.
To refresh the Wilderness package, Subaru added a new grille and front and rear bumpers. Also, sturdy wheel arch claddings in a matte black finish protect the vehicle while driving on rugged terrains. Six LED fog lamps are also new, and they’re only available on the Wilderness version. Furthermore, the auto manufacturer has introduced high-impact interior and exterior color options to stand out from the competition.
Thanks to the 9.5 inches of ground clearance, an 0.8-inch suspension lift, the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness is a rugged vehicle that can handle off-road terrain with ease. Moreover, the 17-inch Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires will provide enough traction for all kinds of gravel and rocky paths. And for better comfort when driving on a trail, Subaru also offers an optional 11.6-inch infotainment system with inbuilt navigation, a power moonroof, and Reverse Automatic Braking.
However, the Outback Wilderness was not the only one whose cost was revealed; Subaru announced the pricing of other 2022 Outback variants as well.
The standard 2022 Subaru Outback is equipped with a less-powerful 2.5L 4-cylinder Boxer engine producing only 182 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque, despite the larger displacement. It also comes with driver-assist technology, including Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control. It also supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and starts at $28,070, only $150 more than last year.
The Outback Premium comes with the same 2.5L engine and features the all-weather pack, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a 10-way power driver seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It is priced at $30,270, an increase of $100 compared to last year.
The Outback Limited still packs the less powerful mill but offers leather upholstery, heated rear seats, a hands-free power rear gate, and keyless access with a push-button start. No changes have been made to last year’s price of $34,720. The Outback Limited XT comes with an extra heated steering wheel, an 11.6-inch infotainment system, Harman Kardon speakers, and a power moonroof, starting at $39,120.
The Outback Onyx Edition XT comes with the more powerful 2.4-liter turbocharged engine, the same as the Wilderness variant, in fact. Other features include a hands-free power gate, a 180-degree front view monitor, and dual-function X-Mode, providing two different driving modes: snow/dirt and deep snow/mud. Its price remains the same at $36,270.
The Outback Touring also comes with the more powerful engine but includes a 180-degree front view monitor, automatic power-folding mirrors, heated steering wheel, ventilated seats, and a cabin wrapped in Java Brown Nappa leather. This one starts at $38,620. The Outback Touring XT features a turbocharged boxer engine along with the standard equipment of the Touring. It is the most expensive 2022 Subaru Outback trim at $41,070.
With everything the Outback Wilderness brings to the game, it’s safe to say that Subaru’s got a sure winner in its lineup. Not to mention that when it comes to off-road-oriented crossovers, there’s not much competition here—at least, none as serious as this one!
