2021 Ford F-150 Tremor is Another Off-Road Version of the Truck

The Tremor package is a reasonable alternative to the Raptor.

Ford recently revealed its newest trim level for the F-150, called the Tremor. It is not as hardcore as the Raptor but still features better equipment than the FX4 F-150, which is the sole trail package currently available. The Tremor might not be the most capable F-150 that fans were waiting for, but it is still a well-rounded package for those who don’t want the craziness of the Raptor but still want a capable off-road pickup truck.

The significant changes that the Tremor pack brings to the table are upgraded springs on both ends, Monotube shocks in front, and twin-tube shocks at the back. Next, there are lockable front and rear differentials and a set of not-so-rugged 18-inch wheels shod in 33-inch tires. The new suspension setup and tires give the Tremor extra ground clearance, better off-roading angles, and better damping at low speeds. Some more upgrades have been made to the front knuckles, control arms, and a four-wheel-drive transfer case borrowed from the previous-generation Raptor.

The Tremor F-150 is powered by the 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6, putting out 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent via a 10-speed transmission. The Tremor is only available as a Super Crew with a 5.5-foot bed and can tow almost 11,000 pounds and carry a payload of nearly 2,000 pounds. The Tremor also features a 2 kW generator, which can be used via the truck’s two 120V 20A outlets.

Regarding the exterior, there are specific changes to make the Tremor look more rugged yet classy. It features a unique upright grille with larger vents, Bright Orange accents, and the Blue Oval on the center. The front bumper is equipped with orange tow hooks and a skid plate. The back end has a new bumper featuring a step to climb into the bed and cut-outs for the dual exhausts. Overall, a handsome package retaining the classy outdoorsy vibe of the F-150 but adds some performance with these small changes.

On the inside, the Orange accents are carried over as stitching on the seats, floor mats, instrument panel, center console, and doors. There is a laser-etched American flag on the dashboard ends. The Tremor has three levels with different equipment, and the top two grades have a dual 12-inch horizontal infotainment touchscreen and gauge cluster. The Tremor also comes with 6 auxiliary switches for integrating custom accessories such as light bars, winches, etc.

Furthermore, Ford came up with several electronic assists for the Tremor, similar to the Bronco. These include trail control or cruise control for off-road driving, trail turn assist, using torque vectoring to tighten the turn radius, and one pedal acceleration and braking, just like in an electric vehicle. The Tremor’s rock crawl mode locks the rear differential, turns off driver aids, and reduces throttle response for better tire-to-ground power transfer.

The 2021 F-150 Tremor is yet to be priced, although it is expected that the package would cost around $4,000. The Tremor will hit showroom floors next summer.
