The 2021 Nissan Kicks arrives with a more muscular design and a hi-tech interior, but still the old 1.6-liter 122 HP engine under the hood.
Three years ago, Nissan released the Kicks, its all-new subcompact crossover. It soon became a fan favorite and one of Nissan‘s top-selling cars.
Three years later, the 2021 Nissan Kicks arrives with an even better design outside and an even more interesting interior. Regarding the exterior design, the most notable change is the more prominent “Double V-motion” front grille. Furthermore, the 2021 Kicks looks more aggressive and edgier now, thanks to the redesigned LED headlights and all-new LED fog lights. Overall, it looks more like an SUV than a crossover, just like the general public wants.
The 2021 Kicks now comes in three new colors — Scarlet Ember Tintcoat, Electric Blue Metallic, and Boulder Gray Pearl. To fit the new paint color, the new Kicks features a new inside trim material on the doors, seats, and front center armrests.
The base variant features a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with 3 USB ports. Higher-end SV and SR variants get an 8.0-inch touchscreen system and a USB Type-C port.
With all those new changes, it’s a bit disappointing to learn that Nissan made no changes under the hood – the 2021 Kicks still feature the same 1.6-liter engine. The old powertrain might be its biggest downside since it produces only 122 HP and measly 114 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, Nissan opted for the Xtronic CVT transmission, which dulls the experience even further. Also, the 2021 Kicks is only available in a front-wheel-drive configuration. Fortunately, the SV and SR trims at least feature disc brakes on all four wheels now.
We still don’t have any information on the compact crossover’s price. Nonetheless, you can expect an aggressive pricing strategy from Nissan.
