Someone Already Transformed the Volkswagen ID. Buzz into Scooby-Doo’s Iconic Mystery Machine, and It Looks Sick!

The Scooby-Doo ID. Buzz is worth supercar money, yet stirs that warm nostalgia feeling inside.

There are many reasons why the new Volkswagen ID. Buzz’s body would be perfect for mods. Its boxy shape with wide and large panels makes it suitable for creative decals — almost like a perfect blank canvas to pour out creativity, really. As a result, several interesting concepts have started to emerge, but none as funny as this one.

Built by the people at Concept Motorsport, in Tangerang, Indonesia, the ID. Buzz has been wrapped in Teck Wrap vinyl with a lookalike Scooby Doo’s Mystery Machine graphic design. Moreover, the owner has also given it KW V3 coilovers for better wheel fitment and adjustable ride heights, a suspension usually found in sportscars like BMWs and Porsches.

Of course, fitting an electric minivan with KW’s top-of-the-line coilovers may seem a bit overkill. But, you must admit the final result is a sweet-looking modern VW bus that pays homage to the classic Mystery Machine (although it was usually based on the 1961-1966 Chevy Sportvan) and those Saturday mornings in pajamas, watching the cartoons on that bulky TV.

Still, it’s not anywhere near a cheap project, though. Considering the many strict regulations and huge import taxes in Indonesia, imported vehicles and parts are extremely expensive there. While a base ID Buzz model costs $58,000 in the US, it’s $180,000 in this land of thousand islands — nearly triple the price! In fact, it’s so expensive that VW Indonesia didn’t even bother bringing the electric minivan and selling it officially. Thus, this particular unit was imported through a local broker from the United Kingdom, and in addition, it’s also a “First Edition” model.

Nonetheless, massive thanks to the van’s owner and Concept Motorsport for that short breeze of nostalgia. It truly is refreshing to see the modern VW bus brought back to its original funky roots.
