A US-based couple tuned their A90 Toyota GR Supra to 950 HP, helping it cut the quarter-mile time to a staggering 8.783 seconds.
Toyota Supra enthusiasts were always into tuning, and it’s no surprise that the newest BMW-sourced generation gets the same treatment. While the MKIV was famous for its exceptional tuning potential, it seems like the A90 GR Supra is no slouch either.
Toyota introduced the fifth-gen Supra in 2019, building the coupe in collaboration with BMW and borrowing most of the mechanics. Consequently, the A90 GR Supra features BMW’s B-58 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine churning out 335 hp. Just a year later, Toyota increased the power output to 382 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque. The Supra has always performed well at the drag strip and the revamped stock model lives up to expectations, covering the quarter-mile in about 12.5 seconds, which is g for a 40k dollars car.
However, it seems like a couple from the United States, with a history of owning and highly modifying Supras, were not satisfied. They made some modifications to their A90 GR Supra, increasing the total output to 950 hp. As a result, their Supra now covers a quarter-mile in just 8.783 seconds.
Now that’s a result that even the Supra MKIV would be proud of!
To reach such impressive figures, they have added a Precision 6870 turbo, a part of the Extreme Turbo Systems kit. The B58 engine also got better connecting rods and pistons as well as a two-stage nitrous system sending a 150 shot to get the Supra off to a flying start, while a 35 shot helps it cover the quarter-mile in record time.
Furthermore, they got rid of one of the headlights and instead installed a carbon-fiber air-intake duct. And thanks to the sticky drag tires from Belak Industries the A90 was able to send all that power to the pavement. Interestingly, no change has been made to the suspension yet, so there is still a lot of room for improvement here.
Stay tuned! We’ll probably be hearing a lot more about this beast in the near future.
