Toyota C-HR GR Sport Hybrid is Now Available in the UK for £31,395

The sporty Toyota C-HR GR Sport Hybrid will be offered with two powertrain options and up to 181 HP!

Gazoo Racing has been hard at work lately, releasing tuned versions of popular Toyota cars like the Supra, Corolla, Yaris, and now it’s the Toyota C-HR’s turn to get the GR treatment.

The Toyota C-HR GR Sport Hybrid was released in November 2020, but the company has just started taking orders in the UK. Although it is not as powerful as other GR vehicles, buyers can choose between two drivetrains — a 1.8-liter self-charging hybrid powerplant producing 120 HP and a 2.0-liter self-charging hybrid engine churning out 181 HP, both of which are paired with a (slightly disappointing) CVT automatic gearbox. The vehicle has also undergone chassis upgrades to help deliver a better steering response and now comes with a limited-slip differential.

The C-HR GR’s front fascia features a reworked grille and a bigger front spoiler. Black accents were added, including the mirror caps, headlamp, and fog lamp covers. To match the more aggressive front design, the rear bumper has been revamped as well. The Sport version comes with a standard two-tone livery, and buyers can choose from a palette of eight colors. The wheels have also been reworked, with 19-inch double-spoke alloys taking over, wrapped in 225/45 Continental Premium Contact tires.

The GR C-HR’s cabin was finished in a darker tone too, sportier seats were added, and buyers can select between Alcantara and fabric for the upholstery. GR badging is seen everywhere inside the cabin, including the gear shifter, seats, steering wheel, and Start button. Standard features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, available in the company’s Touch 2 infotainment system, as well as Toyota’s driver-assist systems like Lane Trace Assist. The 9-speaker JBL sound system is optional.

In the UK, the Toyota C-HR GR Sport starts from £31,395 for the 1.8-liter engine and £33,015 for the bigger 2.0-liter mill. With all its sporty features, the GR-tuned C-HR sure promises to be a good deal.

I’d still get the GR Yaris, though.
