The Bronco is an extremely capable off-roader, and now we have pictures to prove it.
Courtesy of the community forums at Bronco6g, off-road nerds can have a glimpse of the 2021 Ford Bronco’s chassis, including very detailed ones of the suspension system, powertrain, frame, skid plates, and other crucial internals.
The Framework
Right off the bat, we can see that the frame allows for a full-width cabin. Also, we have an exact look at the independent front suspension, which makes the Bronco more comfortable than its rivals.
The track width, at 66.9-inches, is wider than the Ranger and slightly narrower than the Raptor. Ford made that decision for better off-road dynamics, especially when fitted with the massive 35″ tires.
Front and Rear Suspension
The front part of the Bronco features a disconnecting stabilizer bar. Many off-roaders have the same feature to increase articulation on uneven surfaces while increasing on-road stability. For example, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon also has that feature. However, Ford ensures that the system on the Bronco will work even faster than its closest rival.
Meanwhile, the rear suspension features a solid 5-link axle with coil-over springs like the Ranger Raptor. The Bronco also has a Panhard rod for increased lateral control.
The SUV also features robust HOSS Bilstein shocks with external reservoirs improving positive damping while reducing bottoming.
Front and Rear Differentials
The Bronco (with the Sasquatch Package) includes electronic-locking front and rear locking differentials. Furthermore, it also allows the driver to gain more control by locking the rear diffs in 2-High mode or lock the front diffs alone in 4-Low mode.
In Brief…
The Bronco has a lot going for it, with options and features that should make it a competent off-roader. Going against established rivals like Jeep Wrangler, Toyota 4Runner, and the all-new Land Rover Defender, expect the Bronco to capture a significant portion of the market.
With that being said, the pictures shared here are just a small portion of the complete collection. To look at the complete photo set, head over to Bronco6g’s website!
