Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric Crossover Teased with a 280-mile Range

The Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric is almost ready to hit European streets!

The French auto manufacturer introduced the Mégane eVision Concept at the Renault eWays: The Challenge towards Zero Emissions digital event last year. Since then, the production model found its final shape and will be known as Mégane E-Tech or MéganE (pronounced Mégane E).

Interestingly, the production model looks quite similar to the concept but misses out on some minor styling elements. Also, the rear of the electric crossover seems inspired by the latest-generation Renault Espace. The Mégane is categorized into a C-segment hatch that would join the A-segment Twingo E-Tech Electric and the B-segment Zoe in the Old Continent.

Renault Mégane E-Tech is built on the CMF-EV (Common Module Family-Electric Vehicle) architecture jointly developed by Nissan and Renault. The vehicle houses a 217 horsepower electric motor and a 60 kWh battery pack good enough for about 280 miles of range, based on the WLTP test cycle.

On the inside, the Mégane E-Tech gets touch controls along with a slim and sleek instrument panel, similar to that of the Nissan Ariya electric crossover.

In a press release, Renault informed that the first batch of 30 pre-production cars will take part in a testing phase with engineers behind the wheel. For this purpose, all of them have been covered in tailormade camouflage patterns.

The new Mégane E-Tech Electric will be Renault’s small step towards attaining the goal of selling only battery-powered models by 2030. Unfortunately, interested customers will have to wait until next year to get their hands on one.

We’ll keep you posted!
