Michael Jordan’s rare 1996 Mercedes-Benz S600 Lorinser is up for sale, with a starting bid price of a meager US$23.
The vehicle is currently held by Beverly Hills Car Club, who expressed its intention to sell it via an upcoming auction on eBay. This information was provided first by the Club’s sales rep to Car and Driver.
The S600 was featured in ESPN’s 10 part documentary called The Last Dance a little after Michael Jordan throws out the first pitch during a major-league baseball game. There we see him leaving rapidly in a customized W140 S-class while the press was relentlessly trailing him after his early NBA retirement.
Of course, buying one of MJ’s hand-touched whiskey glass or game-worn sneakers is cool, however, owning one of his old signature vehicles is a really another level.
The W140 S-class model was manufactured between 1991 and 1998 and was readily available with a six-cylinder engine, two V-8 options, or a V-12. The S600 was bolstered by the 6.0-liter V-12 producing 389 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque and came equipped with electronically adjustable dampers.
Being a Lorinser limited edition, Jordan’s S600 is also finished with a Green-black metallic paint, 18-inch chrome monoblock wheels, a widebody kit, and customized double exhaust.
With only 157,000 miles on the counter and a starting bid of only $23, it’s safe to assume that many car collectors will be on the lookout to get their hands on Michael Jordan’s limited edition S600.
How much would you be willing to pay for such a rare piece of history?
