Mercedes-AMG says that a fault in assembly makes the headlights aim higher than usual, which causes visual interference for oncoming traffic.
Mercedes-Benz’s latest recall covers nine GTs assembled between February 6 and April 29 year. According to an NHTSA filing, the problem has been classified as a deviation in the headlamp leveling, which might have happened due to improper assembly. The “Description of Noncompliance” also states that the headlights don’t meet the criteria and don’t follow the FMVSS 108 requirements.
Mercedes-AMG says it will start reaching out to GT owners to fix the issue early next year. Moreover, the manufacturer has already alerted dealers to ensure the cars still in the dealerships do not have the same problem.
Interestingly, Mercedes owners who might have fixed the issue won’t receive reimbursement since they could’ve had it done under warranty.
