Manhart fiddled with the eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf GTI, and the outcome will certainly not disappoint.
With new choices coming from all major industries, the front-wheel-drive hot hatch segment has never been more competitive. We have a variety of newcomers arriving from automakers and aftermarket tuners, but only a few can compete with the Manhart-tuned Volkswagen Golf GTI.
The Golf GTI is one of the most common models in the category, with a deep history dating back to the 1970s. The MK8 is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 245 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, good enough for a top speed of 155 mph and a zero to 62 mph time in just a little over 6 seconds.
Being one of the most daring and experienced tuners around, Manhart applied its in-house MHtronik module to the Volkswagen Golf GTI, increasing the performance figures to 290 HP and 313 lb-ft of peak torque. According to reports, an additional 45 HP and 40 lb-ft of torque hastened the 0 to 62 mph sprint to somewhere around 5.5 seconds, although the exact figure is still unknown.
The fiery front-wheel-drive compact has been given an aesthetic makeover both inside and out. The shiny black paint with a red line sure gives the Volkswagen Golf GTI a menacing look, and for better handling and maneuverability, H&R shock absorbers lower the hatchback by 40 mm, while larger brakes are there to handle the extra power.
A fresh diffuser at the back and 8×19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with 225/35 R19 tires make the Manhart Golf GTI stand out even more compared to its stock cousin. The interior, however, has the most striking feature, with a roof full of tiny LEDs producing a starry sky effect similar to that of Rolls-Royce.
Per Manhart, customers can personally request several other adjustments and modifications, meaning that this tuned Golf GTI will be a truly unique sight.
