Jeep finally announced the Wrangler 4xe PHEV prices!
Recently, Jeep announced the first-ever plug-in hybrid version of its most popular model. The Wrangler 4xe slots in above all other versions, probably until the V8 variant arrives.
The Wrangler 4xe is available in two trim levels. The lesser Sahara trim starts from $49,490, while the higher-level Rubicon 4xe begins from $53,190. For comparison, the regular Sahara and Rubicon start at $40,990 and $43,710, respectively. However, the PHEV’s price will become much more appealing after the $7,500 federal tax credit.
The Wrangler 4xe is also no slouch when it comes to performance. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 375 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque works in unison with an eTorque high-voltage electric motor, enough for a 0-60 sprint in only 6 seconds. There is another electric motor on the front of the transmission case, providing all-electric propulsion. Meanwhile, the battery pack is a 400V, 17kWh lithium-ion unit. The power goes to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The Wrangler Sahara 4xe version will come with 20-inch wheels, a full-time 4WD system, leather seats, LED lights, a 9-speaker Alpine audio system, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Rubicon trim adds a heavy-duty 4-in-1 Rock-track 4WD system for better off-road capability.
Jeep already started producing the Wrangler 4xe’s in its assembly complex in Toledo, Ohio. With this new plug-in hybrid hitting the Wrangler scene, buyers have even more 4×4 eco-friendly options. The PHEV will be available for deliveries in Q1, 2021.
