The E-Pilen Concept packs a 10.73-hp electric motor and can travel 100 km (62 miles) on battery power, making it an urban-only affair.
Husqvarna made news when it launched the sleek and futuristic Svartpilen and Vitpilen bikes. Now, the Swedish company teases an electric version of those bikes, fittingly called the E-Pilen Concept.
The bike will have a similar frame as the Svartpilen, with a neatly integrated electric drivetrain. Although what you see in the pictures is a concept, we are confident that Husqvarna won’t change the design for the production model much. The same happened with the Svartpilen and Vitpilen, both featuring stylings similar to the concept models. And, in our eyes, the E-Pilen Concept looks quite attractive, especially from the side.

Husqvarna is owned by Pierer Mobility, which also owns giants KTM and the Indian company Bajaj. Thus, the E-Pilen will certainly share drivetrain components with electric motorcycles from those companies. According to Husqvarna, the bike will utilize an 8-kW (10.73-hp) electric motor. It isn’t much, but the brand imagines the motorcycle as an urban roundabout, not a long-distance cruiser. The 100-km range only confirms that.
Another significant advancement in the electric motorcycle segment is the consortium between KTM, Honda, Yamaha, and Piaggio, which works toward a standard swappable battery platform that all companies can share. The technology will address the range issues, as batteries will be compatible with every model that follows the technology. Hence, a rider could quickly replace the battery at a swapping station rather than waiting for a charge.
Husqvarna’s concept gives rise to a host of speculation surrounding electric motorcycles from KTM and Bajaj, with KTM already working towards a new design Duke 125, 250, and 390. If we had to guess, the Duke 125 would be the first to receive an all-electric powertrain similar to the E-Pilen Concept.
