Ford Won’t Offer the Mustang Shelby GT350 Anymore

Bad news: Ford discontinues the popular GT350 and GT350R models. Good news: they will replace them with other high-performance versions of the Mustang.

All good things must come to an end, and the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is the most relevant example of that. We have heard rumors it could be discontinued since last April, but now, it’s official: Ford will discontinue both the Shelby GT350 & GT350R.

Of course, this might come as a surprise. The Shelby GT350 was very popular with customers, but fear not — Ford is already working on new high-performance models.

“With the 760 horsepower Shelby GT500 now in full stride, we will finish production of Shelby GT350 and GT350R this fall as planned. This makes way for new additions to excite our passionate Mustang fans for the 2021 model year – including the limited-edition Mach 1,” says a Ford spokesperson.

Ford enthusiasts can cheer up a bit now as they already got the Mustang Mach 1 as a replacement. Moreover, it looks like the Shelby GT500 won’t go away shortly either!

Publications still haven’t tested ore reviewed the Mustang Mach 1, but fans expect only good things from it as it shares several of its parts with the Shelby GT350, apart from the epic engine.

We were first blessed with the GT350 at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, while the 2015 Detroit Auto Show gave us the track-focused GT350R.

The GT350 has a 5.2-liter flat-plane crank V8 Voodoo engine producing 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, exclusively paired with a six-speed manual.

Though the GT350R had similar specs, it came with much better aerodynamics and suspension system.

Ford has not declared if it will still accept orders for these models, though. So, if you can get your hands on one, consider yourself as lucky.

It is also not clear what the future holds for the Voodoo V8 engine. However, Ford mentioned it doesn’t intend to eliminate it entirely.

More details to come soon…
