Ford Performance Launches an F-150 Supercharger Kit, Cranking it to 700 HP

Ford just launched a supercharger kit for its very own F-150 pickup truck in an apparent attempt to enter into RAM 1500 TRX’s territory.

As the years have gone by, trucks have gotten faster and faster to the point where they can match yesteryears and some modern supercars. Going back to the early 90s and 2000s, life was simpler, and pickups were all about utility, robustness, and reliability without focusing too much on metrics.

However, in the current scenario, the base model F-150 comes with a 3.0-liter Powerstroke V6 engine that churns out a respectable 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the 3.5 twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 ekes out 450 hp and 510 lb-ft!

Notably, though, the supercharger kit is designed to work with the 5.0 Coyote V8. That’s actually great news for truckers, as V8 engines still rule in that community. The supercharger kit is also compatible with the cylinder deactivation technology, so you should still benefit from the improved fuel economy.

In an exclusive with Ford Authority, the performance division disclosed an increase of a whopping 300 hp and 180 lb-ft over the stock car. Hence, the F-150 V8 with a supercharger now totals 700 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque! A closer look at the setup includes a new intercooler, air intake, and other necessary components to make the conversion.

The supercharged truck is now well and truly into the RAM TRX’s league with this leap in performance. For reference, the Ram TRX 1500 generates a monstrous 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque from its legendary 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 engine.

Ford Performance is still silent on the performance numbers, but we expect a 0-60 mph time of around 4 seconds and a quarter-mile sprint of approximately 13 seconds.

The 2020 F-150 supercharger kit will set you back about $7,500 as a standalone purchase, while labor charges will fetch an additional $2,000 to $3,000 out of your pocket.
