Ford Introduces the Hardcore Focus ST Edition with Adjustable Suspensions

According to Ford, the Focus ST Edition is the most agile Focus ever built, courtesy of an all-new adjustable suspension with a dedicated ‘Nürburgring’ setting.

The Ford Focus ST is already one of the hottest hatchbacks out there and now becomes even better. Meet the Focus ST Edition, an upgraded version that comes with a ton of track-focused upgrades.

Still, the biggest highlight is its new and upgraded suspension system from KW Automotive, featuring two-way adjustable coilovers, twin-tube stainless steel damper housings, and powder-coated springs. According to the Blue Oval, the ST Edition rides 0.3 inches lower to the ground than the standard ST, which the owner can lower even further to 0.7 inches.

Worth mentioning, Ford has rigorously tested the Focus ST Edition on sharp turns and even the treacherous Nürburgring Nordschleife. Ford also provides technical documents specifying different types of suspension settings so that you do not miss out on the thrill.

Ford Focus ST Edition

Under the hood, things remain the same as the ST Edition uses the same engine from the standard hot-hatch. Of course, it’s not that bad since the stock engine was already pretty powerful, especially for such a nimble car. Indeed, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo engine produces 280 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque and connects to a six-speed manual.

The ST Edition also packs sophisticated racing technology, including a front eLSD that makes clever use of hydraulically activated clutches to channel all the available torque from the engine to the front wheels. As a result, the ST Edition can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.7 seconds—not bad, right?

From an aesthetic standpoint, the Focus ST Edition still sports its signature color—Azura Blue—featuring gloss black detailing on the upper grille and front bumper wings. Moreover, it gets a rear roof spoiler, a rear diffuser panel, and ST Edition badging inside out. And for optimal grip, the ST Edition sits on lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in max-performance Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Of course, things are equally sporty in the cabin, with Recaro sport seats with blue stitching and a red ST starter button.

Unfortunately, the Focus ST Edition is limited to select European markets and will start at £35,785 ($49,140) in the UK. The future of a US-bound model remains uncertain, although customers can enjoy the performance of an ST model on the Explorer ST and Edge ST—but yeah, those ain’t fun pocket rockets, though.

Cross your fingers, folks!
