Toyota Sequoia wins iSeeCars study for vehicles that last over 200000 miles

Top 20 Cars That Will Last Over 200000 Miles; Spoiler: Toyota Dominates

SUVs and trucks, unsurprisingly, prevail on the list of vehicles that will last over 200000 miles, with only three regular cars appearing — all from Toyota.

Fuel efficiency and lifespan are two things that every working-class person looks for when they purchase a car. With prices skyrocketing like never before, customers are finding it difficult to purchase new vehicles. Fortunately, in a time like this, iSeeCars.com conducted a study and established a list of 20 cars capable of crossing a mileage of 200,000 miles, which might help you find a more reliable second-hand vehicle.

The study surveyed around 2 million vehicles and delved 20 years back to ascertain which models last the longest. Unsurprisingly, Toyota dominated the list of top 20 vehicles that can cover over 200000 miles without major repairs. The company’s biggest attraction has always been reliability and longevity, with models like the Land Cruiser, 4Runner, and Tacoma known to be almost indestructible.

The Sequoia, Toyota’s full-size SUV, sits in first place, with a potential lifespan of 296,509 miles. The revered Land Cruiser comes second with a lifespan of 280,236 miles, followed by the Chevrolet Suburban in third with 265,732. The list continues with the Tundra and GMC Yukon XL, and then the Prius — the first non-truck or SUV on this list.

The top 10 also features the Chevrolet Tahoe, Honda Ridgeline, Toyota Avalon, and Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Ford and Nissan feature later in the list too. Moreover, three regular passenger cars make it into the top 20 — apart from the Prius, the Camry and Avalon also appear on the list.

“What we see is a list of highly-durable vehicles, capable of more than a quarter-million miles of use if properly maintained,” says Karl Brauer, Executive Analyst, iSeeCars. He also added that the study does not report the maximum lifespan but rather is a calculation from the odometer readings of models that are still going strong.

At best, the study reports these vehicles’ “potential” lifespan. This is because it depends on many factors that are outside the control of an automaker. These factors include driving style and, of course, regular maintenance. Changing the fluids and consumables on time can prolong the life of any vehicle, and you can even do most of these things yourself using one of our repair manuals!
