The headlight covers turn GR86’s cute face into an angry one.
The Toyota GR86 is indeed a neat, nimble, and rather clean-looking Japanese sportscar. It’s subtle but can be quite a looker. However, if you want something to make your GR86 look a bit less mainstream, Aimgain is happy to offer you its latest creation.
Aimgain, a respectable Japanese tuning house based in Hiroshima, has been making unique parts kits and aero parts for a variety of vehicles, ranging from the Toyota Prius to Italian exotics like Lamborghini Aventador. And now, the brand has unveiled its new body kit for the Toyota GR86.
Interestingly, unlike most body kits that usually just come with a pair of side and bumper, Aimgain takes things further by fitting a pair of headlamp covers, instantly turning the GR86’s friendly face into a mean one.
But there’s no denying the Crown-like front bumper also gives it quite a boost. We like how clean the front fascia becomes without the Toyota logo, and the retention of the small GR badge is just perfect. While there’s so much going on with the body kit, the car’s aura is still clean and subtle — very pleasing to the eye.
Beyond that, Aimgain gives the GR86 new diffusers, a roof spoiler, and a fixed wing. We’re also fans of the larger, burnt-looking exhaust tips. And if you want even more, you can also opt for carbon front splitters and side skirts.
Unfortunately, pricing is still in the grey area. But considering the full-body kit for last-gen’s Toyota 86 is priced around $4,000, this one should be in the same range. Sure, it’s not going to make your 228 hp sportscar any faster, but it will surely turn more heads — and at a pretty reasonable price!
