Audi e-tron EV to Launch with Price Reduction and Increased Mileage

The German car manufacturer intends to bait the US markets by reducing the price of its new Audi e-tron by almost $8,800, and increasing its battery-range.

The Audi e-tron saw an excellent start in European markets as sales exploded from the get-go. However, the result was completely different when it was released to the USA. The e-tron’s poor results were quite surprising, especially since Americans are usually so fond of SUVs.

With that being said, Audi is not ready to throw in the towel just yet. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Far from conceding defeat, the German carmaker has devised a new comeback plan as well as better incentives to lure more US consumers into buying Audi innovative electric SUV.

The first incentive will be to reduce the 2021 e-tron’s base price by almost $8,800, starting around $66,995 instead of  $74,600. Furthermore, the e-tron also benefits from a federal tax credit of nearly $7,500, which brings down the purchase price slightly over $58,000. In simpler terms, you could get a $75,000 SUV for just over $58,000. That’s a saving of almost $17,000! Not bad, right?

However, it’s important to keep in mind that this is the price of the base model without any options included. And unfortunately, the Bang & Olufsen sound system is simply not available in the base models.

Inevitably, some sacrifices need to be made if you want to save $17K on your 2021 e-tron. On the other hand, I bet you could install a pretty good stereo with those savings…

It’s no secret that Audi is an incredible electric SUV. However, there have been rumors running around, especially on specialized internet forums, that Audi enthusiasts were dissatisfied regarding the e-tron’s price, especially when compared to what Tesla has to offer with it’s Model X. It’s safe to assume that these rumors lead Audi to give some thoughts into this, which resulted in the manufacturer significantly lowering its price.

Furthermore, the battery-range of the e-tron has also been increased by almost 18 miles, bringing the total estimated EPA range to about 222 miles on a full charge. However, one could argue that 18 miles more is not that much and that the e-tron’s range is still not as high as they would have liked it to be. Still, the move suggests that the iconic German automaker is actually listening to what customers have to say and is leading toward the right direction by making some much-needed adjustments.

The e-tron’s insufficient battery-range has been a topic of discussion for a long time, but the base price reduction came as a bonus. Any Audi fans or EV enthusiasts who wanted to get their hands on this model will be extremely delighted. Two smaller but much more affordable Q4 versions of the e-tron using Volkswagen’s platform will also be available starting next year.

However, the base price of this cheaper variant has not yet been disclosed, so you might still be better saving $17K on a base e-tron right now instead.
