ABT’s limited-edition RS3-R is decked with a catchy aero package, a meaner engine, more torque, and a pretty bold green outfit.
ABT is already well, known for its extreme makeovers of Volkswagen vehicles, and this time, it’s the Audi RS 3‘s turn to receive a spiky restyling from the German tuning house. Indeed, it now sports a handful of upgrades both inside and out, adding to the stock RS 3’s appeal.
For starters, it now comes equipped with an aero package that’s stocked with carbon fiber components in sharp contrast with the vigorous green livery. The black front lip, front flics, and mirror caps are definitely a nice addition, and the Sportback model also gets a roof spoiler.
As for what’s under the bonnet, ABT never goes light-handed. Charged up with a strong 2.5-liter turbo five-cylinder engine capable of 500 hp, the RS3-R will be more than ready to take on much bigger engines and leave them in the dust. The exhaust system also gets an upgrade, turning up the Audi’s unique growl to 11.
Everything about the RS3-R’s powertrain screams raw potential — it’s claimed to hit 0-62 mph in just 3.3 seconds, a huge bump compared to the 3.8 seconds of its predecessor, and a top speed of 186mph
Coming back to the other upgrades, the chassis also received some thorough changes, including ABT’s anti-roll bars and springs, plus a sporty KW V3 suspension lowering the car 1.5 inches all around. According to the manufacturer, the suspension has been altered to deliver “everyday driving just as much fun as the racetrack” — what’s not to like, right?
Moreover, ABT fitted its RS3-R with monstrous custom 20-inch wheels, wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport R Tires, ensuring it can actually walk the walk. All that extra power won’t be easy to transfer to the pavement and those beefy tires are there to take care of that.
And of course, ABT made sure to add a couple of “limited edition” bits, including RS3-R floor mats and door sills marked with the car’s production number. Unfortunately, the exact price tag hasn’t been disclosed yet, but given that only 200 units will ever be made, don’t expect it to come cheap.
