2022 Lexus NX Arrives with New Engines and Hi-Tech Infotainment

Lexus has given its popular NX SUV a complete makeover, now packing brand-new features and the latest technology.

Lexus offers the 2022 NX SUV with a host of powertrain options. First up is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing a decent 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission helps in transferring all that power to either the front or all four wheels. As a result, the FWD NX 250 can hit 0-60 in 8.2 seconds, while the AWD variant slows things down due to increased traction, reaching 0-60 in 8.6 seconds.

The more powerful NX 350 comes with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing a much healthier 275 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque, paired with the same eight-speed automatic transmission. As one can expect, throttle response is significantly improved as the NX 350 can hit the same sprint in only 6.8 seconds.

Apart from that, Lexus also offers two hybrid variants, the NX 350h, and the NX 450h+. The 2022 NX 350h boasts increased power figures and also accelerates much quicker. Its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine coupled with the powerful rear motor generates 239 hp, 20% more than its predecessor. Acceleration also improves by 1.5 seconds as the AWD NX 350h can now reach 60 mph from a standstill in just 5.7 seconds. Fuel economy rating also increases from 30 mpg to 36 mpg.

On the other hand, the NX 450h+ variant is a 2022 exclusive. The plug-in hybrid comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, working in conjunction with a lithium-ion battery pack and a rear-mounted electric motor. This SUV has an electric-only range of 36 miles and can hit 0-60 mph in six seconds. It takes about 4.5 hours to fully charge the vehicle using a 3.3 kW charger, while a 6.6 kW charger reduces that time to 2.5 hours.

Furthermore, both the NX350 and NX450h+ are offered with Lexus’ F Sport package, which significantly tweaks the performance and overall aesthetics of the vehicle. The package includes an active variable suspension with adaptive dampers as well as a bolder grille, special scuff plates, more aggressive bumpers, and massive 20-inch wheels.

The interior of the 2022 Lexus NX gets its fair share of upgrades as well. Lexus made sure everything is accessible with just a touch by providing a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and customers also get to explore every feature of the Lexus Interface via a massive 14-inch display.

Not only that, but the interior of the NX is highly customizable. Customers can add a 10-inch head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, a wireless smartphone charger, and heated rear seats. And if all that is still not enough, the SUV is also offered with an optional panoramic moonroof and 64-colors ambient lighting and 14 different themes, including Rain Forest, Waterfall, and Sunset.

Safety is, without a doubt, Lexus’ utmost priority. The NX comes with a state-of-the-art Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 system, including Emergency Steer Assist, Pre-Collision System, High Beam Assist, Road Sign Assist, Lane Assistance, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, to name a few.

So far Lexus is yet to reveal any official price figures for the 2022 NX. However, we expect it to be priced slightly higher than its predecessor, starting at $38,635.
