Citroën Ami Receives a Cute Cargo Variant

Citroën transformed its cute two-seater city car into an even more adorable electric courier van, the My Ami Cargo.

On the outside, the My Ami Cargo looks exactly like its passenger counterpart measuring 7.8 feet long and 4.5 feet wide. Because the EV is very compact, the automaker didn’t have many options to make room for cargo inside. So, it decided to remove the passenger seat, leaving it with just one seating space.

The passenger seat gave way for a seven-stage cargo module with a storage capacity of 260 liters, bringing the car’s total cargo capacity to 400 liters. This module is basically a plastic bin with a lid and a desk or a shelf holding electronic tablets and paper documents. Owners also have the option to remove this lid to make room for taller objects.

Moreover, there My Ami Cargo also a vertical partition between the driver seat and the storage area, which doesn’t limit the driver’s visibility.

Citroën describes this electric cargo hauler as a zero-emission solution for last-mile delivery drivers and business operators in urban areas. Just like the city version, My Ami Cargo is only meant to be driven in cities at low speeds. As such, it is equipped with a tiny 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack enabling it to travel for 47 miles on a single charge. Its motor only puts out 8 horsepower, enabling My Ami Cargo to reach speeds as high as 28 mph. Recharging the battery takes about three hours on a 220-volt household outlet.

The little courier van is scheduled to hit the French market in June this year, bearing an affordable price tag of €6,400, or $7,800 per current exchange rate. Consumers can also opt to lease it for a monthly €24.28. At the moment, it is still not clear whether the Cargo will be available in the US market—but don’t get your hopes up just yet.
