Volkswagen launched the Transporter T6.1 Sportline, a stylish variant of its commercial/passenger van.
The colors and accessories VW used make it look very muscular and sporty. On the outside, the Transporter T6.1 Sportline looks similar to the Golf GTI, especially thanks to the red line across the front fascia.
However, VW didn’t sacrifice the van’s convenience and versatility. However, with the sporty updates, the van wants to attract customers that don’t usually shop for such vehicles. Notably, the Transporter T6.1 Sportline comes with a body kit that includes more noticeable bumpers and a primarily black grille with clear redlining. Moreover, there is a rear spoiler and longer side skirts.
VW also reduced the van’s ride height by 30mm and installed special 18-inch gloss black alloys, giving it a sportier stance. Finally, the bodywork comes in four paint finishes, including Indium Gray, Fortana Red, Ravenna Blue, and Copper Bronze.
However, VW also prepared a more premium Black Edition, featuring dark window tints in the second row, matt black sidebars, and alloy wheels in the same paint finish.
On the inside, the sporty Transporter 6.1 Sportline is clad in Nappa leather with honeycomb stitching patterns. Furthermore, it has an engraved Sportline unit logo.
VW also included heated first-row seats, a digital display screen, automatic climate control, and even heated front panoramic windows. Other elements include a reverse camera, automatic cruise control, highway emergency brake, and parking sensors.
The van packs a 201 HP 2.0-liter TDI turbodiesel, pairing with a seven-speed DSG transmission. As a result, the van can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 8.9 seconds, which is certainly not bad.
As of the pricing, the standard model costs $60,000 (£42,940), while the Black Edition is a bit costlier, starting at $63,000 (£45,140). VW will start taking orders by the end of March, with deliveries starting in July.
