Hyundai Staria is a Futuristic 11-Seater Passenger Van

The Hyundai Staria features a spaceship-like design, futuristic interior, and can sit up to 11 people.

Minivans are gradually losing favor as customers shift towards crossovers and SUVs. This is because most minivans, except a few, fail to offer a striking visual appeal that the new generation customers crave for. But Hyundai’s latest offering will have people reconsider their opinion of a minivan. Namely, the South Korean auto giant has unveiled the futuristic “Staria Passenger Van,” and we must say it has a unique and attractive design.

Hyundai teased the Staria concept through renders a week ago, now showcasing in its production-spec glory. The company constantly compared this MPV’s design with a spaceship in the press release, and there’s no denying that it looks like one.

The uniquely-styled minivan can pique people’s interest at first glance with its sleek, streamlined silhouette, highlighted by a clean fluid curve that starts from the front and flows to the back. Hyundai says it drew inspiration from the “halo that illuminates Earth’s horizon during sunrise when viewed from space.”

The most exciting part is the Staria’s front fascia, which has serious spaceship vibes to it thanks to the wide-open radiator grille fitted with small four-part full-LED headlamps on both sides. The Premium trim adds rectangular headlamps with eight cube-like LED lights, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and chrome accents for wheels, side mirrors, and door handles.

Meanwhile, a wide horizontal light strip with LED daytime running lights spans the van’s entire front end, giving it a high-tech appearance. The distinctive styling cues continue to the back, which flaunts a large panoramic rear window flanked by tall, pixel-design taillights which flow upward. Finally, a wide windshield and massive panoramic side windows round off the premium feel of the MPV.

The Staria will be available in two, seven, nine, and eleven seat configurations. The interior features a clean dashboard fitted with a pop-up digital instrument cluster to the left of a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. The seven-seater variant comes with second-row “premium relaxation seats” that recline and comfortably disperse the passenger’s weight.

Furthermore, the high-end nine-seat variant gets 180-degree rotating seats in the second row, allowing passengers to have a chit-chat with friends or family members in the third row. All Staria Premium variants feature 64-color mood lighting as standard. Other features include touch-sensitive switches, a button-type electronic gear selector, several storage cubbies across the dashboard, and multiple cup holders and USB ports in the center console box.

Hyundai will reveal full specifications and powertrain details of the Staria minivan with its global debut in the first half of 2021.
