For this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, Toyota prepared four modified vehicles, including the GR Supra, GR Yaris, Yaris Cross, and the hydrogen Mirai.
As with many auto shows this year, the 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon will take place online, with manufacturers releasing their modified car lineup virtually. Toyota has followed the trend and revealed four modified vehicles online.
The first model is the GR Supra, which includes performance parts from Gazoo Racing. The modified coupe features a new dampened brace set, helping absorb some of the excess vibrations that ruin the ride. This helps in improving the steering feel to make it less sensitive to road bumps and other imperfections. Moreover, with a new exhaust system in place, the GR Supra should sound even better.
The next car in the spotlight is the rally-inspired GR Yaris. Unfortunately, the 268 HP hatchback isn’t available in the US, which is just a shame. For the Tokyo Auto Salon, Toyota employed a new aero styling, with a front air splitter and side skirts. Information on whether the company has included performance updates is not available yet, but the GR Yaris sure looks more aggressive.
Toyota has also provided a look at the Yaris Cross Advanced Robust Style, a crossover version of the Yaris hatchback. This version comes with 19-inch alloy wheels with Falken Azenis FK510 performance tires. However, Toyota didn’t make any performance-related changes.
Finally, the manufacturer improved the looks of the hydrogen fuel cell Mirai in collaboration with Modellista. The zero-emission sedan now features a new front spoiler and thin side skirts, making it look quite sporty.
The 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon will take place on January 15.
