After numerous spy shots, we now have a look at the patent images of the next-gen Mercedes E-Class W214, which slots like a Russian doll between the C-Class and S-Class.
The patent images leaked courtesy of “cars_secrets” on Instagram and showed a sedan that looks awfully like its siblings but also shares many traits with its predecessor, the W213. Overall, there don’t seem to be a lot of lines differentiating it from the C-Class and S-Class, and the design seems pretty conservative.
For those keen on distinguishing it from its predecessor, the E-Class W214 has larger headlights on the front fascia along with a newly shaped and narrower grille. Many other elements remain unchanged, be it the roofline, the size of the overhangs, or even the space between the two axles. After all, buyers desiring a little more style always have the Mercedes CLS.
Since there is very little revealed about the powertrain options and features, we are limited to rumors and sneak peeks. However, considering where Mercedes-Benz is headed, we expect a mild-hybrid-only range, with several plug-in hybrid options on offer.
Moreover, it wouldn’t be surprising if the German brand only opts for turbocharged four-cylinder gas and diesel engines, just like in the C-Class. Still, we hope the top-of-the-range E 63 and E 63 S models will boast the signature bi-turbo V8.
Furthermore, the 2024 E-Class should have a brand-new infotainment system towards the middle of the dashboard. Being a Mercedes, the W214 E-Class should also come with a host of advanced safety features, including some autonomous driving tech.
For eager buyers, the W214 E-Class should debut in a few months, but it will arrive at dealers next year as a 2024 model.
