Ford announced three new adventurous option packages for the 2021 Transit van.
With the on-going pandemic, the demand for delivery vehicles has dramatically increased. Therefore, Ford is expanding its range with new packages for America’s best-selling van.
Owners also use the Transit as a Recreational Vehicle (RV) for camping trips, in addition to cargo delivery purposes.
“More than half of all motorhomes sold in the United States are built on Ford chassis. Ford is using its expertise and responding to growing demand with appearance updates for the 2021 Transit,” said Ford in an online press release.
The new 2021 Transit comes with new wheel options and three new exterior colors. Moreover, the electronic parking brake is standard on models up to 9,500 pounds GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). Ford also eased access to the cargo compartment.
The three highlight packages are the Motorhome Package, the RV Prep Package, and the Adventure Prep Package.
The Adventure Prep Package comes with an all-wheel-drive system featuring a 3.73:1 limited-slip differential on the rear axle and a heavy-duty front axle. Ford pairs this model exclusively with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6.
Other features include privacy glass, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and reverse and side-sensing systems. Inside, the Adventure Prep Package will get you an 8-inch touch screen with Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system and dual USB ports. Meanwhile, the company used dual absorbent glass mat batteries to supply electricity.
There’s also an RV Prep Package for outdoorsy people who love to spend the weekend in the countryside. Not a bad idea during social-distancing measures. This package includes a side-sensing system and adaptive cruise control, along with front fog-lamps. Furthermore, the model features heavy-duty towing capabilities to bring your dirt bike along. Inside, standard features include an 8-speaker sound system and four-way manual swivel seats for the driver and passenger.
The Motorhome Package comes with just a cab mounted to the front of the chassis. Thus, the owner can build an aftermarket motorhome on top. It features adaptive cruise control and a new optional economy version of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, tweaked to support vans with a high frontal area.
Apart from the RV trims, Ford has also announced a new Parcel Delivery Package and a Livery Package.
The Parcel Delivery Package aims to aid the booming delivery industry by making life easier for the drivers. It comes with improved access to the cargo compartment, 7 inches more legroom, optional overhead shelf, 50/50 hinged rear 253-degrees doors, and interior lighting.
The Livery Package includes 10-way power seats with ebony leather on all seating surfaces. Furthermore, there are power sliding side doors for easy access, HID headlamps, 16-inch wheels, and full privacy glass.
