The Yatri Project Zero features an 8-kW battery that powers an electric motor producing 64 hp and an impressive 479 lb-ft of torque.
Meet the new Project Zero (P0), a one-of-a-kind electric motorcycle with just one word to describe it– “Futuristic.” Developed by a Nepalese e-bike manufacturer, Yatri Motorcycles, this new cafe-racer-inspired electric motorcycle is a true example of innovation and electric technology advancement.
The e-bike’s prototype was unveiled late last year, and it was supposed to go on sale by March 2020. However, owing to the pandemic, its launch was delayed. Fortunately, Yatri introduced the production-ready model, with pre-orders starting from April 23, 2021.
The P0 is powered by an 8kW Lithium-Nickel-Manganese battery, which sends power to a 48kW (64 hp) electric motor. The power figure might not sound impressive, but 649 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque is staggering.
The 8kW cell provides a decent 230-km of range. It sprints from 0-60 km/h in 2.5 seconds, while the top speed is limited at 140 km/h. According to Yatri, the battery pack is designed with “a software algorithm and protective circuitry” for improved health and efficiency. Meanwhile, it takes 2 hours to charge the battery using the 3.3kW onboard charger.
At the time of its original reveal, Yatri’s founder Ashim Pandey stated, “There is a stereotype on Nepali brands that locally produced products are cheap and are of lower quality. We are here to break that mold.” It appears that they have been successful.
The beautiful P0 e-bike catches the eyes with its elegant yet charming styling based on the brand’s “Elegance in Motion” design philosophy. It’s a perfect blend of retro Cafe-racer styling and a glitzy modern touch. The e-bike’s design is inspired by Husqvarna’s motorcycles with a similar monocoque-like trellis frame carved out of Chromoly Steel.
Mechanically, the Yatri P0 features 43mm RCP inverted forks up front and a nitrogen-charged mono-shock at the rear. Moreover, Brembo 2-piston caliper with 320mm disc and Brembo 1-piston with 240mm disc handle braking duties.
The cockpit features a 7-inch colored TFT console that sits vertically just above the beautiful round full-LED headlight. Other notable features include built-in 4G, navigation, keyless start, and a slew of sensors, as well as OTA updates for several years.
Yatri still hasn’t revealed the price of the Project Zero, nor availability.
