Volkswagen launches ID.4 X and ID.4 Crozz, specifically designed to appeal to the Chinese market.
Details are scarce about the new models, but so far, we know that the X will have width and wheelbase equal to that of the Crozz, but overall length and height are increased by 0.8 in and 0.4 inches respectively. Moreover, the X model gets new front and rear bumpers, headlights, and taillights.
Since the ID.4 X design is specifically intended to appeal to Chinese customers, the headlights appear to have a distinctive look, enough to differentiate it from the ID.4 offered to the rest of the world. At the rear, the taillights run the car’s width just like in the Crozz model but feature a slightly different design.

On the inside, both vehicles are mostly identical, apart from the fact that the ID.4 X features a different center console.
The X model will be built by Volkswagen’s joint venture with the FAW Group in a factory located in South China, while the Crozz model will be produced by the FAIC-Volkswagen joint venture at its Shanghai factory. Production has already started, and both factories have an annual capacity of 300,000 vehicles.
Volkswagen China has not released further details regarding the motor specifications, battery capacity, price range, or trim levels offered. The “X” model seems to come out as superior, but not by much. It will be interesting to see how Volkswagen prices these models on the market.
