Toyota announced the bZ4X all-electric SUV concept for the US market, although it wasn’t kind enough to provide specifications.
Toyota plans to launch seven all-electric bZ models, ranging from bZ1 to bZ5, by 2025, with the bZ4X being the first in line. In addition, some models will bear the “X” moniker, signifying a two-motor all-wheel-drive configuration.
Worth mentioning, Toyota has co-developed the bZ4X with Subaru, which would launch a similar vehicle under the Solterra name. Toyota promises that the EV will convey its legendary quality and long-term reliability, while the all-wheel-drive system would provide a comfortable and engaging experience.
Although currently only a concept, the bZ4X should be fairly similar when it reaches the production stage. The styling isn’t too wild, and we don’t expect massive changes, if any at all. With a long wheelbase and shorter overhangs, the concept has a distinctive design with lots of space inside.
According to the manufacturer, the cabin has been designed keeping in mind the driver’s comfort and road confidence. In addition, Toyota says that it thoughtfully engineered every little detail. For instance, the low position of the instrument panel and meters placed above the steering wheel will increase the sense of space and improve road visibility for extra safety.
Toyota plans to share more details about the production version later this year, with sales starting in North America sometime next year. The manufacturer also didn’t disclose a potential price bracket, but we expect it to be competitively priced against the VW ID.4 and Ford Mustang Mach-E.
