Mercedes Shows the EQS SUV Interior, and It’s Predictably Full of Screens

Mercedes-Benz just opened the taps to an interior overview of its upcoming EQS SUV, which looks very futuristic with large screens everywhere.

Akin to other major automakers, Mercedes, too, has been on a roll with the transition towards full electrification, announcing several models to the EQ family tree. Its latest offering will inherit the qualities of the flagship EQS sedan, albeit in a larger and more practical, family-friendly SUV package. Though it currently shares its platform with the sedan, the automaker also tried to differentiate the cabin.

Unlike the sedan, the EQS SUV will offer seven seats, just like the GLS it is based on. Moreover, the interior welcomes the passengers with a gigantic glass pane housing the MBUX Hyperscreen. The 56-inches of screen real estate (driver’s cockpit, main infotainment, and passenger side) carries all the car’s functions and gimmicks. Mercedes also included a digital assistant for those who find all those screens too complex.

Unlike many luxury EVs, the EQS SUV will also feature a passenger screen for streaming movies. Mercedes also installed a dimming feature to stop the driver from glancing over. Meanwhile, two screens attached to the front head restraints entertain the rear passengers. All passengers can enjoy a Dolby Atmos surround sound.

Since the EQS SUV will act as a bridge to the future for the brand, Mercedes equipped it with a futuristic design. Notably, the airplane turbine-style vents look quite sci-fi, along with the modernistic styling elsewhere.

Not surprisingly, the EQS SUV features plush materials all-round, with a beige leather lining on the seats and door trims, contrasting against the fine wood on the dashboard and center console. Moreover, the SUV features a storage compartment in the middle embossed with several three-pointed stars, showing meticulous detail. Last but not least, a HEPA filter will keep the air inside the cabin clean from pollutants.

A few other notable gimmicks on the EQS sedan, such as the massage function, reclining seats, and zone-specific infotainment controls and climate, will certainly be present in the SUV.

Expect all specifications and pricing details to be unveiled in the official press release on April 19th!
