Husqvarna Motorcycles has unveiled its new street model, the Svartpilen 125, packing a 125cc single-cylinder engine, perfect for younger riders.
This small-displacement fun-ride machine is keenly targeted towards a younger demographic and relies on the success of bigger 401 and 701 versions.
Sharing similarities with its rival sibling, the KTM Duke 125, the Svartpilen 125 also has the same Euro-5 compliant 125cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, coupled with a 6-speed gearbox. The engine, delivering only 15bhp and 12Nm of torque, sure isn’t built with performance in mind. However, the Baby Svart’s lower power output makes it easy to learn riding while still offering a somewhat thrilling ride. Of course, if you are an experienced rider, you should probably look for one of the bigger models.
Despite the small engine, the Svartpilen 125 has an aggressive monocoque-like body styling with a trellis frame borrowed from the Duke 125 and comes with a single matte-black color scheme.
Moreover, the Baby Svart packs advanced technical features. For instance, it comes with ByByre hydraulic disc brakes combined with BOSCH ABS technology that delivers powerful but safe braking. Meanwhile, the WP APEX 43 mm fork and the APEX rear suspension facilitate nimble handling and a smooth ride. The 17-inch front and rear spoke wheels wrapped in Pirelli rubbers further improve the grip and handling.
Other features, like LED headlights and tail lamps, CNC-machined footrests, bronze engine covers, one-piece black-painted steel frame, and high-quality anodized components complement the premium build quality of the bike and give it a rugged and sporty look appealing to the younger generation.
Husqvarna will start selling the Svartpilen 125 through Husky dealers starting February 2021. Prices have not yet been confirmed but should start at around £4,499 in the UK.
