Harley-Davidson Bronx, unveiled at the 2019 Milan’s EICMA show, could be the latest victim of the company’s new reconfiguration strategy.
Jochen Zeitz, CEO of Harley-Davidson, came up with a restructuring plan called “Hardwire,” which led to cutting off 30 percent of the upcoming motorcycles. After the mysterious disappearance of the Bronx from Harley Davidson’s website, it looks like the promising streetfighter prototype may never see the light of day after all.
The iconic motorcycle manufacturer has been going through a tough time over the last couple of years. Apart from being dedicated to its original burly motorbikes, it is also trying to expand its line by creating new varieties of motorcycles.
Last year, the company even dropped a bomb, breaking all grounds by creating its first electric bike — the Harley-Davidson LiveWire. According to reports, the manufacturer was also working on another project, a streetfighter this time.
With a displacement of 975cc that promised almost 70 lb-ft of torque and 115 hp, the Bronx won the heart of motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide.
However, a lot has happened within the company since then. For instance, the CEO of the company has been replaced, and, after a lot of positional re-evaluation and reconsideration, a lot of its future planning has been stopped or put on hold for now. The Bronx might very well be one of them.
Moreover, the CEO recently commented that after the success of the LiveWire, the new strategy will mainly focus on original cruiser bikes, which the company was primarily famous for. This will also enable them to figure out their potential and provide the market with motorbikes in line with the original Harley-Davidson spirit.
Harley-Davidson has not officially declared anything concerning the future of the Bronx yet, but they are likely to release a statement soon. On the other hand, the Pan America model seems secure for now, but, following the recent changes in management, nothing can be taken for granted anymore. However, the manufacturer is likely to keep this one alive as the ADV market is full of untapped opportunities right now. However, the Bronx does not seem to be the most essential thing at the moment.
There is also a possibility that the Bronx might make a come back in some other variant. After all, a brand new engine was designed especially for these two bikes.
Cross your fingers, everyone!
