Guy Martin Aims ‘300 MPH in One Mile’ on a 830 HP Turbo Hayabusa

Former Isle of Man TT racer, TV presenter, and legendary daredevil Guy Martin will be back on the tarmac to break the ‘300 mph in one mile’ record on his turbocharged Hayabusa.

The former bike racer was known for his daredevil stunts such as: breaking the wall of death speed record on live TV, clocking out 376mph in a Triumph Streamliner, and recreating the iconic Great Escape jump. This is the same man who said “Even though the TT is very extreme, it was still the same circuit and the same routine every year”. Contrary to what everyone thinks, our Guy plays it very cool.

He bought his Hayabusa from a friend back in 2018, and has since modified it for a single purpose in mind – top speed. It now has a fully enclosed shell to keep drag to a minimum, and under it is a heavily upgraded engine producing an astronomical 830 bhp thanks to perks of turbocharging. The bike clocked 250, 260, and 282 MPH in its previous attempts, but Guy Martin is determined to ooze that extra 18 mph and get to 300 MPH with the help of his partner in crime Jared ‘Jack’ Frost.

In an interview by his sponsor Morris Lubricants, Guy said “It’s only 16 seconds, the whole thing is only 16 seconds. It is just gritting your teeth and trying to manhandle this monster down a mile track. It’s like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. It’s just madness; it’s a wrestling match in every area, physically, mentally, everything.”

“… I can’t sleep for two days when I’ve been fast on that bike. 250 MPH is alright, but I can’t sleep for two days when I’ve been like 260 MPH or 280 MPH. For two days, I’m wired.”

Despite all his injuries resulting from his racing career in the past, there has never been a stronger determination to break this feat. As they all say, when man and machine go in perfect harmony, they become nearly invincible.

In a quote, he confessed that he has “come to the conclusion that when you are doing something like this, if you’re not willing to die for it, you don’t actually want to be doing it.”

We can only wish Guy Martin the best of luck on his 300 MPH record attempt and pray that he comes back to tell the tale.
